Nasivvik High School
"Nasivvik is an Inuktitut word
that means vantage point. It can be a height of land, a hummock of
ice, or any place of elevation that affords an observer a clear view
of their surroundings to make good observations." Zebedee Nungak
Nasivvik High School has 291 students in grades 7 to 12.
The school is located in Pond Inlet Nunavut, a remote Inuit
community on the
northern tip of Baffin Island. The large majority of students speak
Inuktitut as a first language. Nasivvik High School opened in August
of 1999.
